El Cinco (the iPhone 5) won’t likely be getting here until at least fall but the next version of the Apple mobile operating system, iOS, will likely roll out at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference in June. And when it does, it looks like it might offer voice recognition capabilities. Tech Crunch reports that Apple has been doing a lot of work with a company called Nuance Software, which specializes in voice recognition. It’s a company that you might not have heard of but they’re pretty advanced in this space. They would be too expensive for Apple to buy but they could outfit the new iOS and create a world where all the hipsters with iPhones will appear to be talking to themselves as they walk down the street. Possible positive ramification: hipsters forced to enunciate.
