Microsoft announced today it will buy Internet phone and video network Skype for $8.5 million. Brits are getting annoyed by the rollout of roving camera cars to catch parking and moving violations. Japan scraps its energy plan, saying it will have to “start from scratch.” Greece is on the verge of another bailout, furthering concerns about the Euro. Egypt’s unemployment has become a major issue of discontent, so the new government is cracking down on the foreign workers who have come there looking for work.

In the U.S., Illinois is dropping out of the federal program that deports undocumented residents with criminal records. We heard about the budget trigger, something most budget-cutting proposals say will happen if Congress can’t cut the deficit. And as banks are re-examining mortgages, they’re finding fraud was committed even during the housing bust. Here are the songs we played:

  • The Sun Smells Too Loud – MogwaiBuy

  • Ioio – Nosaj ThingBuy

  • Pontiac – MahjonggBuy

  • Dying is Fine – Ra Ra RiotBuy
