Military officials are telling Politico’s Mike Allen that they found a bunch of tech gear at the compound where Osama bin Laden was killed. Computers, hard drives, thumb drives, stuff like that. It’s all been turned over to a big crew of computer forensics experts stationed in Afghanistan who are going through it to get more information to use against whatever’s left of al Qaeda.

Xeni Jardin over at Boing Boing offers the possibility that maybe they found no computer equipment at all and this is just a controlled leak to freak out al Qaeda and force them to do something stupid.

I want to just connect a couple of dots here: it was said that the compound had no internet access. So if they’re doing stuff on computers, are they just moving everything on thumb drives through these couriers? What good is a computer to the head of an organization if it can’t send messages?
