Sony says its ending production of the PSP Go. It was a weird device from the start, the PSP Go. It’s a handheld game player from Sony, the initials stand for Play Station Portable. But unlike the regular PSP, the Go did not take game cartridges like you would find in a retail store. It was designed to play downloaded games only. It’s a neat idea, I guess, and since it’s a dedicated player it had the capacity to run some big games. But the selection of downloadable games from Sony was pretty bad and the player cost a ridiculous $249. There’s this idea that the portable game player will be replaced by the phone and game apps. The killing of PSP Go might seem to argue against that but I don’t think it really does. I think it was just an overpriced thing that no one needed playing games that were no good.
