DAR.FM is a new free service that’s just been rolled out and currently in alpha testing. It stands for digital audio recorder (.frequency modulation, if you didn’t already know that last part) and it lets you record whatever was broadcast on radio stations you select. From there you can select what song or program you want to hear and skip right to it. From what I’m reading, the sound quality is pretty bad, at least so far, so it seems an unlikely service to use if you really want to listen to great music. Might be better for news, talk, public radio, or sports radio. A lot of those things have podcast components although this could be easier and it’s free. It’s available in browser and on apps for mobile devices.
