Results of a federal survey on Net connectivity out today suggest that more than a quarter of all Americans still do not use the Internet, and as many as 10 percent don’t have access to a broadband Internet connection.

The figures come from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s annual broadband adoption survey, which was released in conjunction with an interactive National Broadband Map that lets users look up high-speed Internet availability by city or zip code. In my area around South Pasadena, Calif., for example, the map lists three providers that offer connection speeds above 3 Mbps. The image above identifies all the areas in the U.S. where broadband access is available.
