Instagram is one of the hottest new social media platforms out there. It’s all about photo sharing, super easy to use your iPhone to take pictures, post them, share them. It’s like Twitter for images and all the hipsters are using it. But that means they’re NOT Flickr (cue funeral march for Flickr parent company Yahoo now) which for a long time has dominated browser-based photo sharing. That’s because Flickr never put anything like Instagram out there. Kellan Elliott-McCrea is a former Flickr bigwig now at Quora and talks about how Flickr biffed it here.
It comes down to killing opportunity whenever obstacles presented themselves. That and literally years of dithering.
