It looks like the White House will pick Elizabeth Warren to oversee the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, but she won’t go through the usual confirmation process. In other Washington news, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner signaled that the Obama administration is going to get tough on China over its currency. Staying in our nation’s capital, the new head of the Office of Management and Budget is a familiar face. In Europe, the EU slapped a tariff on China’s fiberglass exports and the pope’s visit to the U.K. is marred in controversy over costs. Hopping over to China, a new online game takes on demolishers. Domestically, an increase in foreclosures is expected to continue, the U.S. birth rate hits a low, weekly jobless claims fall slightly, and a new survey ranks the best global brands.
