Two big banking and tax stories today. Central bankers have agreed to force banks to triple their amount of capital reserves — spare cash they can use in a crisis. House Minority Leader John Boehner has signaled that he may be open to compromising on proposed tax cuts. No such luck in the U.K., where unions are considering going on strike against budget cuts. We also covered life in Chicago without Oprah, whether people will buy sustainable fashion, competition BlackBerry faces, Chattanooga getting the fastest Internet service in the U.S., issues with old pipelines, and why California wants some rail help from China. And these are the songs we played:

  • Flashing Lights — Kanye WestBuy

  • I Predict A Riot — Kaiser ChiefsBuy

  • 1234 — FeistBuy

  • Borderline — MadonnaBuy

  • Bruises — ChairliftBuy

  • New York, New York — Ryan AdamsBuy
