Got an hour? Making lighting improvements is one of the easiest energy upgrades you can make. Each compact florescent bulb you use can save you $30.

1. Make sure you are using bulbs with appropriate wattage. You probably don’t want a 100 watt bulb in your 60 watt light fixture.

2. Consider replacing old bulbs with compact florescent bulbs. If you gave up on CFLs before, you may want to try again; they’re better than they used to be.
