According to some TV blogs, Law & Order has been on risky ratings ground for awhile. The 20-year series holds a tie with Gunsmoke as the longest running show on television, but it’s not looking like it will go much further. Deadline.com has speculated that NBC has canceled the flagship Law & Order.

UPDATE: Marketplace confirmed the report in today’s show, and we looked into the effect it will have on New York City’s actors.

Deadline.com says NBC hasn’t released an official cancellation statement, but has been following the drama throughout the month:

As recently as the start of this week, even NBCU chief Jeff Zucker was privately telling people that L&O would get one more season. That’s certainly what Wolf and his longtime reps (UTA and Ziffren Brittenham legal eagle Cliff Gilbert) were led to believe from NBC suits Marc Graboff and Jeff Gaspin. That is, until last night.
