Employers added 162,000 workers to payrolls in March, which is the largest gain since March 2007. The jobs numbers were bolstered by temporary hiring for the U.S. Census. In an interview with Bob Moon, former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich says that makes the report just about meaningless.
These temporary jobs will be gone in six months, so they don’t really reflect the strength of the jobs market.
Reich says for big companies to start hiring again, they have to be convinced there is a market for their goods and services.
