A study from the University of Southern California finds people born in California are again the majority in a state famous as a beacon for foreign immigrants. The economic downturn and stricter border restrictions are among factors contributing to the shift.

The study points out that the influx of immigrants to California has dropped sharply compared to the nation as a whole. To listen and read some of Marketplace’s coverage on topics involving immigration, visit here.
