Marketplace Minute with Bill Radke 3/26
This week: health care, social security, Google in China, funyuns, and student lending.
Let the Social Security death watch begin!
It’s now paying out more than it’s got coming in.
The surplus there’s been
will grow ever-more thin.
So, Gen Y, you lose. Boomers, you win.
Pepsi will cut back the salt in its Cheetos
and Lays and Tostitos
and Funyuns and Fritos,
while Google is giving shareholders angina
by making things tenser
with censors in China.
Obama’s defending
the idea of mending
the way we’ve been blending
our student lending.
At risk of offending
the banks, he’s contending
the money we’re spending’s
a waste. So that’s ending.
Health care reform
has been signed into law.
Liberals feel warm,
they’re shouting, “Huzzah!”
Conservatives warn
of government power.
Oh — my death panel meets in about half an hour.
I’ve got to go enter my desperate plea.
So I’ll see you at Marketplace.org.
