Globalization has played a large part in the strong growth of United Parcel Service. Kai Ryssdal talks with CEO Michael Eskew about how the business has changed, and how in many ways it will always stay the same.

Who: Michael Eskew, chairman and chief executive officer of United Parcel Service.

Education: Earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and completed an advanced management program at Wharton School of Business.

What you may not know: If Eskew hadn’t signed on as an industrial engineer at UPS in 1972, he would have pursued architecture.

Personal: Eskew lives in Atlanta with his wife. They have four children.
