Google has introduced a new feature called My Maps that lets you save locations and directions — with photos and video — and then share them with your friends or the world.

TEXT OF STORY

[ SNL Skit: . . .

CHRIS PARNELL: Yo where’s the movie playin’?

ANDY SAMBERG: Upper West Side dude.

PARNELL: Well let’s hit up Yahoo Maps to find the dopest route.

SAMBERG: I prefer MapQuest.

PARNELL: That’s a good one too.

SAMBERG: Google Maps is the best.

PARNELL: True that.

SAMBERG & PARNELL: DOUBLE TRUE . . .

]

Well, those companies really are trying to outdo each other.

Today, Google launches a new service called My Maps. It’s for everybody, not just programmers.

So you can create your own maps with notes and videos and photos of your favorite places to eat, for example, and then you can share the maps with friends or with the public.

All the map sites are working on stuff like this — double true.
