Still tellin’ us what’s happening on Wall St.

Citigroup has ousted exec Todd Thomson over his relationship with CNBC's Maria Bartiromo, but yesterday the network stood behind its star anchor, saying the assignment in question was legitimate.

TEXT OF STORY

SCOTT JAGOW: If you watch CNBC, I’m sure you’ve seen Maria Bartiromo. She’s been reporting from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange for years.

Maria’s relationship with a Citigroup executive has been a big business story this week. This executive, Todd Thomson, was fired Monday.

Apparently, his boss didn’t like where that relationship was going — like to Asia in a Citigroup corporate jet.

Yesterday, CNBC defended Bartiromo and said the trip was a legitimate assignment.

I imagine Joey Ramone won’t argue. He wrote a whole song about Maria.
