Katie Savin received her master’s in social work from Hunter College of Social Work (CUNY). After a period unable to work due to disability and receiving social security disability benefits, she worked as an ICU and Palliative care social worker in two level 1 trauma center hospitals in the Bay Area. Today, she is a PhD student in social welfare at UC Berkeley. Throughout, Katie has been an activist advocating for immigrant, disability and labor rights. She is an emerging writer with a recent byline in the New York Times. Katie enjoys talking to strangers, arts and cats, and accessible public transit.
