As other carmakers in Europe struggle for their very survival, Volkswagen is flourishing thanks in part to its worldwide appeal. Republicans have reportedly rejected an opening offer from the White House which calls for a $1.6 trillion tax increase over ten years and the ability to raise the federal debt limit without Congressional approval.
