SHORT BIO

I am an emigre from the Czech Republic who enjoys travel. I always have had a deep love of radio and am grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented and creative people.

What was your first job?

My first job was an office clerk in a French-speaking hospital in Canada, so I had to learn the job and the language simultaneously (which kept things interesting).

In your next life, what would your career be?

I am still deciding if in my next life I should be a lawyer, an economist or a diplomat. Perhaps I will choose a career that doesn't yet exist. Alternatively, if the next time around I am given a great voice, I might choose to become an opera singer instead.

Fill in the blank: Money can’t buy you happiness, but it can buy you ______.

Peace of mind.

What’s something that you thought you knew but later found out you were wrong about?

Over the years I've found that listening to other people's stories is a great way to keep an open mind and to alter one's own established opinion.

What’s your most memorable Marketplace moment?

When I told my sons over the phone that Marketplace had hired me, I could hear one of them calling his wife: "Grandma got the job!"
