Media designer
Daniel Ramirez is a former media producer for Marketplace. Since joining Marketplace in 2014, I've done everything from audio engineering and producing to writing original compositions — including the theme music for “Make Me Smart.” My background consists of 11 years of audio engineering and music production, working with a variety of talented musicians, producers and artists in a variety of different roles. Additionally, I have been a multi-instrumentalist for more than 30 years. What was your first job? A child model. I was 6 and did it for two years. There may or may not be a photo of me strutting on a catwalk, wearing a white tuxedo and a red bow tie. Fill in the blank: Money can’t buy you happiness, but it can buy you ______. An election. What is something that everyone should own, no matter how much it costs? I'm going with the invaluable on this one — love and a liberated spirit. What’s something that you thought you knew but later found out you were wrong about? I once thought that music was either objectively good or objectively bad. Turns out that music is a subjective force, and that all music means all things to all people. That's part of the beauty. What’s the favorite item in your workspace and why? A picture of my wife and kids.
