Several large meatpacking plants around the country closed temporarily due to workers contracting COVID-19. Some have started to reopen, after President Donald Trump issued an executive order declaring the meat supply chain “critical infrastructure.” But the recent closures and concern about the meat supply have been a boon for some small meat processors that are seeing demand for local meat spike.
