Chart of the day: the cost of Thanksgiving

Marketplace Staff Nov 23, 2016

A modest Thanksgiving meal for 10 costs an average of $49.87 this year, down 24 cents from last November. The American Farm Bureau Federation has been tracking the cost of a feast for more than three decades with an informal survey.

The Farm Bureau calculates the cost using a set grocery list that includes a 16-pound turkey ($22.74 this year), sweet potatoes, rolls, stuffing, peas, cranberries, a relish tray, a gallon of milk and pumpkin pie. You can read the full shopping list with prices at the Farm Bureau website.
