For the last six hundred years, and maybe even longer than that, James Rebanks’s family has been farming Herdwick sheep in the Lake District of England. But unlike his grandparents and ancestors, Rebanks has Twitter. And Instagram.

Rebanks regularly posts photos of daily farm life on his social media. There are many photos of sheep, but also his herding dogs, gatherings with other farmers and views of the landscape. “We can’t let Kim Kardashian and these people have it all their own way, can we? I think we’ve got to fight back and take back social media for working people” he says, laughing. His latest book is a collection of these photographs called “The Shepherd’s View: Modern Photographs from an Ancient Landscape.”
