Why more companies are using secure cloud storage

Where traditional software fails, cloud computing companies have been able to offer solutions. And as more software developers are building their own cloud technologies, consumers can be assured that options for cloud storage and file sharing will improve.
Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box, was ahead of the curve when he opened his offices 11 years ago.
Levie on why more companies are using cloud services:
The only reason that you’ve seen this kind of adoption of cloud services, whether it’s of Box or Salesforce.com or Amazon Web Services, is because we’re at a stage where you can get better security, you can get better data encryption, you can get better control of your information in a cloud service than you can in a traditional environment. And so we take encryption very seriously, this is why we came out in favor of Apple and Tim Cook as this has a very meaningful impact on our industry, and the different kinds of outcomes could absolutely be disastrous for the technology industry.
On the implications of creating a secure storage space outside the reach of authorities:
I think it’s up to technology providers to recognize how their technologies might fit into this overall conversation, whether that’s a conversation of national security or other challenges. What sort of was a step too far in the San Bernadino case was asking a company to break their own security model. I think the right future state is: we need to move in an overall direction where more security is better, that protects all the possible use cases and threats that there will be against that technology. But, we can actually begin to have more modern approaches to dealing with things like national security issues in a digital context, and I think that’s where the conversation and the policy needs to move.
