A solid week end for Bernie

You made it through Wednesday, which is a “yuge” accomplishment. Here are some need-to-know numbers for the end of your day.

Sen. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump both won big in New Hampshire’s primary on Tuesday. Both were predicted to take their respective races, but the margins were impressive nonetheless — they will likely attempt to ride that wave into upcoming state contests. Already faring well: Sanders’ donations. Buzzfeed reports that his campaign has seen an intake of $5.2 million since polls closed in New Hampshire, with the average donation being around $34.

And over on Capitol Hill, Fed Chair Janet Yellen made her first appearance since interest rates were raised in December from zero to 0.25 percent to 0.5 percent. Her tone was notably more measured in light of recent market volatility. As the New York Times writes, the Fed had originally indicated it would raise interest rates as many as four times in 2016, but the expected first move in March will likely be postponed.

And while the Fed received criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike, at least its reviews aren’t as bad as, say, your cable company. In a recent Harris Poll survey, words like “greedy,” “unpleasant” and “heartless” were all used to describe how people felt about their cable providers. And these companies are taking note. Time Warner Cable, for example, is attempting to turn around its public image using technology. The company uses geolocation to send the nearest technician to customers, reducing the fou-r to eight-hour window to a one-hour wait time. Now, they’re reporting a 98 percent on-time record for the last three quarters of 2015.
