The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences kinda gets it, but kinda doesn’t.
In the wake of the all-white Oscars controversy, the Academy board had a meeting last night. Here’s the upshot:
It promises to double the number of female and minority members by 2020, and it’s going to review voting status for members who haven’t been active in films in more than a decade. That’s about the old, white, male membership.
But none of that, affects this year’s Oscars. And by the way, as long as Leo doesn’t win, I’m good.
