That’s how much singer songwriter Taylor Swift donated to the Seattle Symphony, sighting her admiration for their recording of John Luther Adams’ “Becoming Ocean.” The piece won the Pulitzer Prize in 2014. As the New York Times writes, the money will go towards a music education initiative run by the symphony.
That’s the percentage of adults 25 years and older who have a bachelors degree or higher, according to census data for 2014. That’s up from five years ago, when it was 28 percent. Also of note in the findings: women were more likely to have a bachelors degree than men.
By some estimates, that’s how much Goldman Sachs could save in infrastructure costs by 2022 with the implementation of its proposed Bitcoin-like currency — the banking giant submitted a patent for what it’s calling “SETLcoin.” As the Financial Times write, it would serve as a cryptocurrency system for settlements of trades of stocks and bonds.
