Listen To The Story

Corvallis, Oregon. Gillette, Wyoming. Dalton, Georgia. They don't have much in common on the surface — they're in different parts of the country with different economies. But each has a relatively new mayor.

Biff Traber in Corvallis, Louise Carter-King in Gillette, and Dennis Mock in Dalton took office in January and spoke to Marketplace back then about what it was like stepping into that job. Lizzie O'Leary catches up with them about their economies, their upcoming projects and what has surprised them about their jobs.

“I think the best compliment I can give is not to say how much your programs have taught me (a ton), but how much Marketplace has motivated me to go out and teach myself.” – Michael in Arlington, VA
