This final note out today: What happens when the Nobel Committee calls, as related by brand-new laureate Angus Deaton at his press conference on Monday

“They were very keen to make sure that I did not think it was a prank,” he said to a laughing audience. “And I don’t know whether this is common. I’ve never had a prank phone call telling me I won. And of course, as soon as they said that, I thought, ‘Oh, my God, maybe it is a prank.'”

He gets 8 million Swedish krona by the way — about $978,000.
