The pope’s visit is well underway, and Ben Johnson says the no-drone zone around the pope’s destinations kind of resembles the pope’s mitre (that’s the pope’s special hat). It’s 60 nautical miles across and 18,000 feet high. Johnson says if you’re thinking of breaking into this no-drone zone, be prepared for some hefty fines and possibly even jail time. But this is also a good reminder that the Federal Aviation Administration is still trying to create solid regulations for drone use. Johnson says those regulations have a lot to do with whether or not drone users are just hobbyists or are trying to profit from their drone use.
