Starting today, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly referred to as food stamps , will see a cut of $5 billion. Under the cuts, a family four will receive $36 less in benefits every month.
We took the conversation to social media to see what you would cut from your grocery list with $36 less in groceries every month.
The response varied, but because of the price, cutting spending on fresh fruit came up multiple times: A lot of respondents said the price of produce is one of the most expensive things on their grocery list.

@Ketchcast We’d prob switch to juice drink at first. I’d miss the smoothies: good protein & calcium for a picky kid. pic.twitter.com/0Q2fv0zA6V
