Japan Airlines, Airbus close first-ever $9.5 billion deal

Japan Airlines announced a $9.5 billion deal with Europe’s Airbus today — a blow to the Boeing Company, which had a near-monopoly in the Japanese market for decades. Japan’s flagship carrier purchased 31 A350 planes, which Airbus says use 25 percent less fuel than previous aircrafts of its kind.
