Good news on the unemployment front. Jobless claims are in for last week, and 333,000 people applied for unemployment benefits. In the last month, the number of jobless claims hit its lowest level since 2007. Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow financial, explains what this means for the economic recovery.

Yahoo is introducing a new logo — only not right now. Each day for the next month, Yahoo will display one of the logos that didn’t make the cut. Then, on day 30, it’ll show us the new one that did.

Starting next year, residents of Colorado and Washington State will be able to buy marijuana legally without a prescription. The economic implications of that are big, and not everyone is happy about it — including the Mexican drug cartels, which make as much as half of their money from selling marijuana in the U.S.
