New York City has a brand new bike share program. Some New Yorkers worry the bikes will crowd streets with commuters and tourists. But similar programs in cities like Montreal, Boston, and Washington D.C. have been hailed as successes.

Riders can download a mobile app to find docking stations where bikes or parking spaces are available. New York City’s Department of Transportation is monitoring bike use and will adjust the location of docking stations based on traffic data.

Marketplace Tech host Ben Johnson set out to check the design and tech of the bikes with the help of Ted Mann, who reports on transportation for the Wall Street Journal.
