We are just five days away from election day, which means one way or another there will likely be a bit more certainty when it comes to the economy. So what does that mean for ordinary investors and people with retirement accounts?

Despite the impending fiscal cliff, the suggish global economy, and a weak domestic job market, the stock market is still going strong — outperforming US treasuries, corporate bonds, and commodities. Some analysts say, going forward, it’s a smart bet for long term investors and those preparing for retirement.
