This final note on the way out, one last follow-up to the debate last night and President Obama’s comment, “Well Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military has changed.”

All of which is true. For military horses, especially. They’re mostly all ceremonial now.

But bayonets? The Marine Corp still uses ’em. In fact, spent $4.3 million in 2003 to buy every Marine his or her own.

It’s more like a knife, really. A 13-inch-long, really scary-looking knife.
