Unless you follow political rallies around like the Grateful Dead, this election season a big chunk of your news is bound to be filtered through the news media. Our partners at Gallup checked in the other day on American’s trust of the news media.

“In September,” says Gallup editor-in-chief Frank Newport, “[trust in the media] was the lowest we have seen it in our history of asking this question.” In the days of Watergate, up to 70 percent of Americans had faith in the media, while today that number has dropped to 40 percent.
