Keep your eye on the Sparrow (cuz it disappeared into Google-dom)

Marc Sanchez Jul 23, 2012

How can you not mention Baretta when talking about sparrow? You can’t, and there you have it. In other fowl news, Google announced it’s buying Sparrow, an upstart email program that helps streamline your inbox, for under $25 million. And if you’re one of Sparrows five employees, that’s not too shabby a figure.
Sparrow is known for its Mac app, and as the Verge reports,

… the Google purchase makes a native Mac Gmail client more of a reality. We heard that the acquisition is less about “building for a specific platform,” and that Sparrow’s experience at building simple and powerful email clients will be helpful in bringing consistency to the Gmail ecosystem.

What will all the bells and whistles in your folder-filled Gmail account look like in the future? The bells and whistles will probably still be there, just muted, as Sparrow takes flight.
