Social media Games

Stacey Vanek Smith Jul 9, 2012

The 2012 games is being touted as the first social games–apparently reshaping them.  During the 2008 games, about a quarter of the world’s population was on the internet, now it’s a third.  One really interesting part of this is that the Washington Post is working with the makers of Social cam.  It’s a mobile video app on Facebook. it lets you share video across social networks.  The app will let on site reporters post spot interviews and live footage. they are also letting attendees post their own videos for posting on WaPo’s official site.
This is a really interesting approach for WaPo.  Letting readers post videos and creating a space for that is very interesting.  There has always been a little bit of that (storm videos) but this is an official site created so that laypeople can post content on the newspaper’s site.
