No more Linking In your tweets

Marc Sanchez Jul 2, 2012

Until last Friday, a nifty feature for LinkedIn users was the option to have tweets appear on their LinkedIn page. Great, especially since people tend to actually be social on pretty much every site but LinkedIn – Hey everybody, I just updated my profile: ASSISTANT birdfeeder at the zoo! I guess that sunflower seed shelling class is really paying dividends.
The new policy isn’t limited to LinkedIn and is part of a shift in Twitter’s policy.

CNET writes:

Ending a policy that had been in effect for the past two-and-a-half-years, Twitter announced Friday it planned to institute stricter rules for its application programming interface to ensure that “the core Twitter consumption experience” includes “a consistent set of products and tools.”
In a company blog post announcing the forthcoming policy, consumer product manager Michael Sippey discussed broadening its “expanded tweets ” program, which allows users to preview stories, images, and videos linked to within tweets.

Twitter introduced Expanded Tweets a couple weeks back, which lets partner sites show more information within a tweet – essentially giving a preview of linked website without leaving Twitter. This most recent announcement looks like another effort to keep people from clicking off the site.
