Facebook giveth and Facebook taketh away

Marc Sanchez Jun 26, 2012

Yesterday we told you about a new Facebook feature that leaked over the weekend called Find Friends Nearby. The mobile phone app in Facebook was designed to let you know when Friends,  Friends of Friends, and complete strangers  might be near you, because saying “hello” to somebody that, say,  goes to the same mechanic as me has become that important. Privacy advocates were concerned, and people were especially irked by the fact that the app’s default was set to “on,” and now comes news that Facebook has made an about face. Business Insider speculates: “we’re guessing the negative backlash caused the feature to die a quick and early death.
Now let’s see if BigFace will do the same after so many people have expressed their anger over how it changed everybody’s default email to yourname@facebook.com. For more on that and how to change it, check out today’s show.
