Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference continues all this week and loyal users of the Mac Pro computer have been bummed out that the keynote offered no big announcement about an update to their fave machine. That’s probably because it’s a desktop computer. Not a mobile device, not even a laptop, but a traditional computer that’s meant to stay in one place. Apple CEO Tim Cook has now sent an email that made its way to the Mac Pro community and he promises there will be an update next year. Some time.
“Although we didn’t have a chance to talk about a new Mac Pro at today’s event, don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year,” the Apple CEO said in an email that was confirmed authentic by Apple’s public relations team to Macworld.
The email was reposted in a Facebook group called “We Want a New Mac Pro” that launched last month and has more than 18,000 “likes.”
I include this item because it’s important to note that we’ve reached a point where mobile devices are the dominant story and desktops are considered niche.
