Sony! Remember them? News from the company famous for making the PlayStation and responding poorly to hacks on the PlayStation Network and this time it involves laptops. There are new versions of the Sony Vaio laptops and they’re running on those super fast Ivy Bridge processors we’ve told you so much about. Okay, we told you about it once and it was a show that broke my head trying to make it all make sense. Upshot of it is this: Ivy Bridge is just a bananas super advanced technology.
Sony’s introducing the E series of Vaio, starting at $449, without the Ivy Bridge processor. But it looks like the mid-range are being set up as the stars here, says CNET:
Sony’s most mainstream laptops, this upscale-looking line comes in 13- and 15-inch sizes in silver, black, and white. Physical changes here are modest compared with last year’s version, but we liked the Vaio S a lot, so that’s not a bad thing. The line includes a business-friendly TPM chip, which makes it a potentially useful crossover system. The 13-inch can get a dual-core Ivy Bridge Core i7, and the 15-inch can go quad-core. Nvidia graphics and Blu-ray drives are optional.
