Hulu announces 10 shows

John Moe May 21, 2012

TV shows? On a computer? This Internet stuff is crazy! BUT IT’S TRUE. At the big upfront meetings in New York, Hulu has presented ten new shows to premiere on its network or website or whatever we want to call it. I guess it’s kind of a network except instead of affiliated TV stations, you just have zillions of computers or Internet-enabled devices.

CNET has the list:

“Spoilers” with Kevin Smith, previously announced travel series “Up To Speed” with Richard Linklater, and comedy “We Got Next.” The exclusives include U.K. comedy “Rev,” comedy “The Yard,” magic show “Derren Brown: Inside Your Mind,” sci-fi show “The Booth at the End,” drama “Pramface,” drama “The Promise,” and comedy “Little Mosque.”

Wait wait. Hold on. There’s a drama called “Pramface”? I know that “pram” is the British term for stroller. Pramface? If the protagonist is a detective with a stroller for a face, I AM WATCHING THE CRAP OUT OF THAT SHOW.
Three of these are original, seven are licensed from elsewhere.

The popular thinking has long been that for original content to work on Hulu or Netflix, there needs to be one big breakout runaway hit. By launching ten, Hulu helps its odds.

(short amount of research later)

Oh nuts, Pramface appears to be a British comedy about a young mother.
