Hopefully it’s not like being John Malkovich inside John Malkovich in “Being John Malkovich.” This morning Warner Bros. announced a plan to release some of its classic movie scripts in e-book form called Inside the Script. Not such a big deal, you might think, but the brothers Warner are trying to entice you with interactivity. You’ll not only be able to read the scripts of “Casablanca”, “Ben Hur”, “An American in Paris,” and “North by Northwest,” you’ll also be able to view things like directors notes, storyboards, and behind-the-scenes photos. And for that level of old timey that movie buffs might be yearning for, the Verge reports, “the scripts use a custom monospaced typewriter font throughout to preserve the feel of the original documents”
The scripts will be issued in Kindle, iBook, and Nook formats, which should capture most of the Venn diagram intersection of movie nerds who own e-readers and tablets. Warner Bros. says the e-scripts will cost $9.99, and it plans to bring more series to digital bookshelves in the future.
