New iPad having WiFi issues?

John Moe Apr 6, 2012

Okay, so, in what soon became one of the most debated (and arguably most tedious) issues surrounding the new iPad, it was eventually established that the device did not heat up to dangerous levels and melt your flesh. Now there’s a new issue (yay!) and it has to do with the quality of the WiFi for the iPad, or rather the occasional lack of WiFi.

9 to 5 Mac reports that Apple is investigating a potential problem:

Since the new iPad’s launch, many users have been complaining about third-generation iPad WiFi issues ranging from connection drops, slow download and upload speeds, or the device’s inability to even pickup local WiFi networks. A thread discussing the issue exists on Apple’s online support forums has almost amassed 700 replies from users with similar issues.

This is apparently an issue exclusive to the WiFi-only device and not the 4G version.

These complaints kind of make me wonder how universal these problems are with devices in general and that maybe they just get amplified like crazy because it’s happening on such a famous gadget. Everything is multiplied by a thousand for iPad: fame, sales, buzz, and, perhaps, coverage of common problems. OR! Maybe people at Apple just screw up a lot.
