Everything everywhere needs to be 3D, because that’s the way nobody likes it.

I think I saw movie director, and recent deep-sea explorer, James Cameron doing a jig on the deck of his submarine. He must have just read the YouTube blog entry that says all videos uploaded at 1080p will be automatically converted to 3D. Gizmodo gives the how-to: “The process relies on a self-teaching algorithm to accurately split the image into two and set the proper depth, then farms out the actual conversion to the Google Cloud architecture which breaks the video into chunks and process each piece in parallel.” You know the only person that didn’t fall to sleep during that last sentence? JAMES CAMERON. Had to turn on the all caps there to wake you back up.

On its blog YouTube promises more 3D and beyond in the future: “With 4D, 5D and 6D around the corner there’s lots more we can do!”
