Waitress sues over $12,000 tip

Sarah Gardner Apr 4, 2012

This final note today. Anybody who’s ever waited tables can feel her pain: A waitress in Moorhead, Minn., lost what she calls a $12,000 tip. The mother of five was working her shift at the Moorhead Fry ‘n Pan when a customer left a takeout box behind. The customer told the waitress to keep it.

Turns out the box contained $12,000 in cash rolled up in rubber bands. The waitress turned it into police and they told her she could keep it if no one claimed it after a while. But now police are keeping the money as part of a drug investigation.

The waitress — you guessed it — is suing.
