Marketplace Staff Mar 30, 2012

Up to ten million compromised card numbers: that’s the alert that Visa/Mastercard has sent to banks across the country. And the stolen data was complete, which means each card could be counterfeited. Visa and Mastercard have not made a public announcement of the breach, and it’s not clear which processor was responsible for the attack, although two major financial institutions have traced common transactions back to parking garages in the New York City area.
